With all the talk of recession and the economy we are constantly reminded about what we may lack and our culture focuses us on what we lack. It's ironic that today we celebrate what we are thankful for and tomorrow, Black Friday, we celebrate at the feet of consumerism. The marketers and advertisers tell us all the things we "need" and manipulate us into seeing things as "good deals" instead of what they are, wasteful and excessive.
I count it fortunate that I have a good job, one that I thoroughly enjoy and pays well enough to live on. I have two cats that keep us entertained and my Macbook Pro and iPhone that are great tools for home and work.
Having said all that I am most thankful for the love of my Savior Jesus and the lessons that He is continuously teaching us. He gave me the greatest gift my Wife Jaime. Through all the struggles and triumphs of this life she has been there supporting me and keeping me accountable. I would not be here if it was not for my Savior and my Wife.

Why should I be let into Heaven?

This question is a pretty good litmus test of a Christian.
This is to say "perform your Salvation" meaning that we have been saved and we are now to act in a way that is not only becoming of a Christian but even more it pushes us toward doing works that would honor God. For example, if we are to work out our salvation we should help people and have compassion on people. First Paul refers to how thankful he is for them (Romans 1:8), that their faith is being proclaimed through the whole world. The use of the “whole world” is more than likely referring to the Roman Empire. We often want to skip over the greetings as they seem to have little value but this is very interesting. The Roman Christian’s faith was being spoken of throughout Rome. No little feat I’m sure. Paul then goes on to say that he is praying for them consistently (Romans1:9-10), as well as, make know his plan to visit them.

When is the iPhone 5 coming? via Cult of Mac

I would have to say I agree with the guys at Cult of Mac on this one. Last time we took a look at Paul’s introduction. It’s important to notice how specific Paul is in the way he communicates. We often refer to the epistles as “letters” and of course that is what they are, but I think we should be careful not to mistake the weight of what Paul is saying. In our world of email and text messages we are constantly connected to each other. This was not the case in ancient Rome. You may only have a couple of opportunities to send a letter to someone based on the process of sending it. So we should see the epistles as thoroughly communicated messages.

Romans 1:1-7 - Introducing Paul

This first entry for Romans is going to serve as a bit of an introduction to the book as well as offering insight.
