On this Thanksgiving I think it's important to think about the things that we are thankful for. With all the talk of recession and the economy we are constantly reminded about what we may lack and our culture focuses us on what we lack. It's ironic that today we celebrate what we are thankful for and tomorrow, Black Friday, we celebrate at the feet of consumerism. The marketers and advertisers tell us all the things we "need" and manipulate us into seeing things as "good deals" instead of what they are, wasteful and excessive.
I count it fortunate that I have a good job, one that I thoroughly enjoy and pays well enough to live on. I have two cats that keep us entertained and my Macbook Pro and iPhone that are great tools for home and work.
Having said all that I am most thankful for the love of my Savior Jesus and the lessons that He is continuously teaching us. He gave me the greatest gift my Wife Jaime. Through all the struggles and triumphs of this life she has been there supporting me and keeping me accountable. I would not be here if it was not for my Savior and my Wife.
Monday, November 21, 2011 at 8:28AM This question is a pretty good litmus test of a Christian. A lot of folks would probably tell you a list of things they have done and that would make them worth of Heaven.
My argument is that there is nothing that gets you into Heaven, with the exception of God's grace.

This is to say "perform your Salvation" meaning that we have been saved and we are now to act in a way that is not only becoming of a Christian but even more it pushes us toward doing works that would honor God. For example, if we are to work out our salvation we should help people and have compassion on people. It's not just staying out of trouble, but also acting out of our faith and love for Christ and others.
Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 10:15AM As we continue looking at Romans 1 we have looked at the greeting style of Paul and here we enter the “Personal Message” phase of his greeting (Romans 1:8-15). First Paul refers to how thankful he is for them (Romans 1:8), that their faith is being proclaimed through the whole world. The use of the “whole world” is more than likely referring to the Roman Empire. We often want to skip over the greetings as they seem to have little value but this is very interesting. The Roman Christian’s faith was being spoken of throughout Rome. No little feat I’m sure. Paul then goes on to say that he is praying for them consistently (Romans1:9-10), as well as, make know his plan to visit them.
